The Avakas Gorge is a popular hiking destination in the west of Cyprus and is also popular with "jeep safaris", although the gravel road to the car park at the entrance to the gorge can be covered by a normal car without any major problems. The gorge itself can only be crossed on foot, good weather conditions are a prerequisite.
